You only need one bearing on the point of the RA axis and the front of the
horseshoe is supported by the drive shaft and one wheel. The DEC axis needs
to have only one bearing if you provide the proper support across the tube.
You might want to investigate front wheel bearings for autos as they are
quite strong enough for about anything that you're going to put on for a
telescope. The cost of roller bearings is really quite cheap.
