Re: ATM Generator

Pete,

I'm shocked by your arbor speed. I guess it makes sence with diamond, my
mind set was focused on grit. I have a length of diamond saw blade. It was
cut from a daimond bandsaw blade, that, though still useful, failed
dramaticly, or so I was told, while in motion. Its not quite long enough
to reach around the 6" OD steel can. I had thought of wraping this and
holding it in place with a 7" dia. hose clamp I have. Of course, I planned
for this blade, another use, and don't know about replacement. Still, I
have time, the table persists as a project.

The chuck you described is similar to one at Chabot, I was dreaming of
borrowing it. I'll beg and plead with Paul, first chance I get. In the
mean time I'll keep plugging away at what I now see as a sort of portable
bench top electric power plant, for, like, turning stuff. Been talking to
non-ATMs too long.

I haven't delt with cooling yet, when trepanning in the past I just poured
water on the piece while spoon feeding it grit. If I use diamond, I guess
coolent will be easier, a setteling pond and I've got just the pump. We'll
see.

I've preformed my mak glass, that is, I cut off the one good corner like
protruberence, and ground that into a right angle prism shape, smaller of
course, than seemed possible. Its a shame to generate away all that glass,
but away it will go. Perhaps, realisticly, two months to fine grinding.
Ok, OK!, optimistically.
