ATM a visit from Asaf
Folks,
I'm sure most of you are familiar with Asaf Shtull-Trauring's posts
on the list. He is a 13 year old young man who lives in Israel.
Last night I had the pleasure of meeting him and his grandfather,
who he is visiting here in Cleveland, Ohio.
I spent a couple of hours showing them the 9.5" refractor here at
my university ( good views of the moon, venus and mars), then taking him
back to my place to show him my 18.5" dob. He had many questions and was
quite excited at "seeing a big dob in real life rather than just a picture".
He is a fine, intelligent young man. I only wish I could have spent
a little more time with him and his grandfather, who's company I enjoyed a
great deal. Asaf mentioned that when he makes a computer controlled scope
it will run on Linux!
I just want to say that with bright, enthusiastic young people like Asaf,
the future of ATMing looks very bright as well!
Dave
