ATM 16-inch scope
Hi Asaf:
I hope you are enjoying your US visit!
I wanted to warn you about the perils of building the scope first, then
grinding mirrors to fit.
You risk spending a lot more time walking around the barrel, trying to hit a
precise focal length. It can be aggavating, and time consuming, and, in the
end, you'll probably be off by a centimeter or two, anyway.
In my opinion, it is better to finish the mirror first, then design around
it. If not possible, then leave yourself some flexibility, perhaps by not
cutting the truss-tubes to length until the mirror is done.
