ATM f/ what?
All,
OK, I asking for opinions. Its not like I don't already have enough
projects on my plate, but, having recently purchased a large enough piece
of BK-something (1) to make a moderate sized Mak corrector, I am left
wondering (obsessing really) if I should attempt to cut it in half and make
a Houghton corrector or go with the Mak. Of course, if I go with the Mak,
should I go f/long, psudo-classical and keep the secondary small, f/ medium
say in a Mak-Newt or a Simak, or f/ short which brings me back to the
Houghton?
As for the answers to the obvious questions. Mostly visual, deep sky, some
planitary and because I've never made either. I've re-read the relivent
sections of "Telescope Optics", no help. I realise the Mak corrector would
be more of a challange but in a Mak-Newt I only have three surfaces to
work(2). A Houghton, which is less sensitive to maintaining CT and who's
CX surfaces are easier to test has at least five surfaces(2).
As you can see I'm going around in circles. All opinions are welcome(3).
Those of you who know about all the other projects I juggling(4), tread
lightly. I know about all the projects you're juggling(4) too.

1) Probably BK-7, but I'll have to test it.
2) I think I'm done with flats for a while.
3) I'm putting on my thick skin.
4) Read, haven't finished yet.
