RE: ATM threaded inserts

I also had the same problem. Before I received my Berry-Kriege's book, I
had no idea how threaded insert looks like. After I got the book, I
searched for the threaded insert in many hardware stores here in Jakarta
with no luck.
The solution I came up with is to use t-nuts. I modify the t-nuts by
flattening the the teeth and inserted the t-nut into the talmunimium
tube. It works just like threaded inserts.
Instead of modified t-nuts (or threaded inserts) you can also use a
dowel. Get a dowel which size is the same as the inside diameter of your
aluminium tube (or slightly bigger), cut it about 2.5 cm long and insert
the dowel into the tube.
To connect the tube to the upper ring you will only need some screws.
Hope this helps,
