Krylon Ultra Flat Black (tm) is my favorite, and is pretty black.
You want the flat black to go on after the sealer for two reasons.

The sealer will impart a gloss to the finish if it is on top,
defeating the purpose of the flat black paint.

The flat black will look better IMO if the grain of the wood is not
pronounced under it. A few good coats of sealer with light sanding or steel
wool between coats should hide the grain.
