"Sawing action" is NOT what you want in hogging. Glass chipping
is the fastest way to remove large chunks. You either have FAST
grinding (i.e. "chipped" appearance) or nice looking surface that
takes long to form. There is no free luch - pick your choice.
BTW hogging with a glass jar is looking for trouble. If it shatters
while you lean on it, even with gloves on you may end up with couple
of fingers missing. And you're wasting grit and time in grinding the
tool too.
