ATM Compound plate-glass mirrors

Is it possible to cut several (7-8) circles out of sheet glass in the
needed diameter, epoxy those together, and use that as a cheap mirror
blank? Just a thought, but if it works, it would mean REALLY cheap
mirror blanks. I will buy my first blank (8"), but I am thinking about a
13" or even larger after this one, and that would get a little
expensive.
