Re: ATM rough polished surface

It would seem to me that the glass fractures evenly dispersed over the entire
surface are left over pits from a coarser abrasive level. Trying to polish
out residual pits that were originally left by even as fine as 500 emery and
not completely removed by 12 micron, 5 micron or 3micron abrasives, the
surviving pits looking like cusps will require many hours of polishing to
completely remove them. It might pay to go back to the finer abrasives and
have another go at it.

I always grind until I can no longer see any pits of the previous grade and
continue to grind for another 30 minutes just to be sure. This is particular
important in the finer grades. I know many of you out there will say this is
overkill, but trying to polish out residual pit from 120 or 250 grade
abrasives will take forever.
