I remove that dot also. I use dot only on the diagonal for initial
setup. Using the autocollimater I find the extra dot confusing.
If you use a laser it is not going to reflect off the dot to the primary
unless you have a very small dot.

Any you thought I liked dots <G>

If you do not want to put a dot on the diagonal for initial set up.
You just got this clean baby and the last thing you want to do is put a dab
of ink or dot of tape on it. I know the feeling.:-(

Well what you can do is put criss-cross fine threads over the diagonal.
Tape the threads on to the sides of the diagonal holder. The threads
should cross at the point where the dot should be. This will even
work with the laser reflection to the primary. When done remove
threads. Enjoy
