ATM Bearing Material

I've been seeing posts this past week about bearing materials for ATMs 
and several have mentioned babbit; one person said that due to EPA 
concerns it is no longer available. This got me thinking about 
alternatives.

How about graphite filled epoxy? Just mix powdered graphite in large 
quantities with epoxy; then mold and pour it just as you would babbit. 
Anyone tried it yet?
