[ATM] SPAM AGAIN!
Now that I am calmed down after a nice cigar, I still need to
remind everyone that is still doing so that HTML is not loved on
this list.
I am getting SPAM again from posts to this list. The file
attachment is a Google search that I jsut did today and, fo
course, it has some posts that I've done to this list that have
posted my email address.
The charachers >? and @ are special characters on the web. The
two carets are the start and stop characters for HTML coding and
the at sign is the seperator for email addresses... As such, the
oleft caret and the at sign should be verboten in the body of a
message. SPAM search engines look for the at character in a text
string and, when found, consider that the text before and after
to the space character to be an email address. As such, such a
character should never be next to any other text. If this is
found, it should be replaced with something else for a character
so that the email address is not evident. The open caret
character should also be replaced so that HTML code isn't
executed by the email program and thus, the ability to show email
addresses is not enabled and able to be hidden by the email
program.
I ran a Google search for my latest address and got the result
shown in the attached file. I just copied the source that I got
from the Google page so it will show up as HTML text and you can
go see the posts that have irritated me so much.
I got alerted to this because the Nigerian idiots have already
found my email address and have sent me several of thier trash.
Be glad that I'm calmed down a lot othersise, my language would
have been a lot moe vivid!
Ken, would you please insure that the filters on this list
software insure that email addresses are not put into the
archives or even posted to the list as they have been done wtyh
the psts that Google has found???
I'm not a happy camper with this problem.
I also am not interested in hearing about all fo the "wonderul"
programs out there that supposedly cure this problem asn they all
still have the problem of recieving the crap in the first place.
I don't even want to see it on my email inbox at the server. The
email box is private to my friends and the ATM list and I don't
need to have t cluttered with a thousand messages or more a day
like my old box was (and probably still is getting)!
Hope that this gets fixed permanently as I don't need to have my
blood pressure go up again like that.
