Bending is determined by the sheer/strain relation, or elasticity (Youngs')
modulus of the material, at least in the reversible part of the graph. There
is a point where the relation becomes non-reversible, this is where
deformation or even fracture happens.
In principle the modulus can very well be the same while the materials still
have a different yield or breaking strength.
