[ATM] which spherometer dial indicator tip

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone might have some suggestion about which tip
to get for the shaft of a dial indicator to be used on a
spherometer. I have the Compac SH 524 (metric 0.002 mm resolution).
The shaft is a hollow metal dowel. I inquired about some more
common tips and was warned not to buy/use these on optical surfaces
because they are made of carbide, etc and are known to cause
scratches on glass. It was explained that there are nylon tips
for fragile surfaces, but then I was confronted with a lot of
possible shapes. At the same time, I am pretty sure I once read
about some EU and ANSI standards. Any suggestions or warnings what
to avoid?

Has anyone made one? I thought of a using a 1.5 mm drill bit,
but that fit too loosely, and of course, the next size up won't
fit at all.

Dominic
