There's not much you can do about it now other than
polishing off the aluminium and continue from where
you left off, or accept it as is and use it while you
start another.

A good test is the red laser test.  Hold it about 1 or
2cm off the surface and direct it at a glancing angle.
 If you can see it enter the glass then
polish-more-worry-less is the rule of thumb.  Try the
test all round the circumference.  When all you see is
the dust on the surface and a red spot on the back
side of the blank, you are done and ready for
figuring.

Yes it's a severe test but if you have invested time
into it already, another 2 hours (or 6) is nothing.
