Did you have your mirror coated by Clausing?  The fist mirror I made 60
years ago came back from Clausing with the same note and I've talked to
many ATMs who have had the same experience.  If the incomplete polish
appears uniformly near the edge, say up to an inch wide try the mirror
first by masking the incompletely polished part.  Do this just to get an
idea as to how your first mirror works on a star.  Even incompletely
polished, it should produce good images.  When you are satisfied that all
is well except for the polish, go ahead and finish the polishing as
suggested by others on the list.
