Just one question to the  rouge users. Does anyone detect a smoother surface
under the foucault test????

If using other compounds leaves you with a smooth surface, meaning your
technique is good then the advantage is probably in reducing micro-ripple,
the actually inaccuracies do to particle size. Sort of the "ultimate" smooth
surface I guess. But if you have a really rough bumpy mirror from bad
contact or other, it probably won't help those things get better.
