Re: [ATM] Black Rouge

The mirror I'm making right now is the first time I've used black or red, so
my experience is limited, but the black works slower. I'm not sure exactly
how much slower, but perhaps on another mirror I'll try to quantify it.
The thing which really impressed me was the "feel" of the black when
polishing. From the start, the lap felt perfect...never "grippy", just real
smooth and giving perfect resistance. With red rouge, I found that the
wetness of the lap had to be perfect to get the right feel.

To my eyes, the mirror seems more reflective, but I'm absolutely sure I'm
just imagining that. I know that the differences would be more subtle than
naked eye would show.

I know there are people out there doing Lyot testing...perhaps Tom could
send out some samples so that the smoothness of the red and black surfaces
could be quantified.
