Can anyone tell me a formula for how much a (rectangular) bar will 
deflect under compression? In other words, starting with this | and 
applying a known compression force vertically to get this ). Note that 
this is elastic bending - I'm not trying to permanently bend the bar, 
just find out how much it deflects.
