There can be many causes of this. Dewing of the secondary will
put a halo around any bright star as well as the EP dewing doing
the same thing.
In addition, it could also be the EP isn't fully coated and
you're seeing a reflected imageof the star from an uncoated
surface in the EP. Remember that four percent of the light that
impinges on an air to glass surface will be reflected rather than
transmitted. This problem will show up as a blur that wanders
about radially from the star's imageas you move it about in the
EP. It could be that after that period of time that your eye
becomes sensitive enough to see that dim image.
