Re: [ATM] testing tunnel

First, find a stable floor. A basement or garage floor is quite
good enough. You really don't need a lot of space for doing the
testing and you really don't want to make up any large tunnel
for this job.
Second, if you have a thermal problem, grab one of the large box
fans and circulate the air for a bit befoee you start testing.
Homogenized air will do nicely and air flow actually doesn't hurt
the testing. I've tested in my trailer in the winter with the
heat running. Just fire up the fans and the air soon becomes a
lot of little bumps and waves that don't bother the readings.
Amazing but true.
I'll note that you don't have to have a dark room, just a source
light bright enough to make it quite visible what is happening in
the test. The big reason for a dim room is to get the eyeball
open enough to accept the exiting cone of light from the KE to
fully enter the eyeball. Use a video camera with a lens of
suficient size and the testing becomes a lot easier.
If you feel the need to redally make something,, make a sturdy
platform for the KE and another for the mirror stand. If the
focal length isn't too long, a two by ten piece of lumber will do
for the stupport and you want to put it on three legs (stable
mount_ so that it doesn't rock about.
