Actually, you're looking at this backwards.  You don't want a
speed reducer bur rather a speed increaser.  The reason for this
is tha6t when you are doing a coarse movement to get an EP near
focus, you aren't looking for accuracy but rather speed.  Thus, a
knob with a large pulley on it driving the fine knob which is
actually the mover of the tube is what you want to do. A ratio of
4 or more is a good ratio and an o-ring for a drive belt is
perfect.
