[ATM] need ides to reinforce my struts

Hello All -

a few weeks back I wrote in about the poles on my 3 -pole DOB flexing. With the
help of other list members, we have come up with an idea to try before we
convert it to a std 4 truss (8 pole) design.

The flexure seems to be coming from the gap between the ID of the mirror box
holes that the poles go into and the OD of the poles themselves. The poles pass
thru the mirror box top and thread into a stud located about 6 inches into the
box. There is a difference of .10 inches between the ID of the holes and the OD
of the poles. This allows the poles to flex quite a bit. We are going to try to
"sleeve" the bottom 12-24" of the pole with a piece of aluminum or steel tubing
that will slide over the poles and eliminate the gap between the mirror box and
the poles. The Poles have an OD of 1.25 inches and the mirror box holes have an
ID of 1.35 inches.

Any ideas where I can an get the sleeves, how close to the ID of the sleeves can
be to 1.25 (the OD of the poles). and what they should be made of?

As always, thanks to everyone for their help and ideas -

RP
