Most of my solar viewing is done on public scope days, as such the scope
does not always track the sun as people tend to ask a lot of questions.
Plus every now and then it is nice to stop viewing and have a cup of tea
while not having to worry about the scope getting blasted by the sun.
Foam core art board also works very well. And if the winds are so high
that the light shield starts acting like a sail and starts moving the
scope around then I figure that it is time to pack it in and head to the
lake and do some real sailing.
