If I were to do a fiberglass and foam tube, I'd do one side with
plywood (outside) and the other with fiberglass. This will be a
slight problem tho as when you cut the panels, you will have
alternating sides out (unless you do extra cuts to get only one
side out) which won't look as nice. If you do both sides with
fiberglass, you will then want to cur the foam and then glue it
together followed by the surfaces otherwise the joints will be
the weak spots in the tube.
BTW, when you do angled cuts on a table saw, make sure that the
fence is always on the high side of the blade as you don't want
to get the material caught between the low side of the blade and
the fence or you'll be getting kickbacks like you won't believe
and they will come back at you with enough force to possibly go
right through your stomach!
