Re: [ATM] Advice on Solar scopes/observation

The Absolute Best Solar dedicated Scope I ever made was a 4.25" f-15 Newt.

While that doesn't sound all that un-usual,, the difference was, None
of the mirrors were coated. Well with aluminum,, They were with anti
reflection coatings.

I first made it plain, with bare mirrors. But at lower powers it was
a bit still too bright.. Under HIGH powers it was great, But at powers
where you could see the whole sun at one time,, it was a tad too
strong. And even a "Moon" filter,, or other neutral density filter
was still needed.

Then I tried anti reflection coatings and it was PERFECT!

I had the best views of the sun with this scope.
