[ATM] Baffles
On a related topic: When you design a Newt tube with goals of baffling, make the
"last" (part nearest mirror) 40% of the next larger tube size than the design
would otherwise call for. Say you are to baffle a six inch scope- use 10+in diam
tube at the mirror end and "nest" the 8in diameter tube in it at the open end.
When you do the math (or drawings) you will find fewer baffles required and a
darker sky. See Sept., 1996, Astronomy Magazine for baffle methods.
