[ATM] Fluid Drive Rate Regulation Ideas

I would like to offer some strictly technical comments, but first:

I'm aware that (particularly as a "newbie") I've become annoying
to many on this list.

I apologize! And I hope to not be a "repeat offender". :)

Here are some technical ideas for accurate fluid motion control:

* Curve the cylinder by its radius from the polar axis for a
   constant flow per angular distance traveled.
* Use a "frictionless" rolling diaphram cylinder design.

* Larger diameter cylinders give finer possible rate regulation.

This leaves dealing with changing load, pressure, tilt, density,
and viscosity. I believe these are smaller considerations, but
nonetheless important. Much as I strive for simplicity, these
issues (plus refraction) call for some interactive regulation
mechanism.

The very best mechanism I've heard of so far would be using a
positive displacement pump (e.g. peristaltic pump) on the [output]
side of the fluid cylinder in place of an adjustable valve.

This idea was suggested to me by a gentleman who visited my campsite
at RTMC. I believe his name is Dave Ambrose - Thanks, Dave! :)

Using a PDP on the cylinder output, provided that its displacement
can be smoothly regulated, has many significant advantages for a
fluid motion regulation design that I would be happy to enumerate
off-list for anyone interested.
