Actually, the drive error depends upon the accuracy of the guide
telescope, camera and electronics for feedback to the needle
valve controlling the fall rate.  Without that feedback, you can
easily be off degrees per minute without any effort for the drive
rate.
With the guider, the periodic error tends to be random in time
and positon.
