Like all other optics work, the job relly isn't difficult to do.
I'd start by using a tile saw and cutting a groove in the glass
where you want to cut it and then using a horizontal bandsaw
(like a typical 4x6 metalworking bandsaw that drops down on the
work) setup with a blade for grinding the slot deeper and let it
do it's work.. You will have to build the bandsaw as
metalworking bandsaws really aren't setup for doing this work -
larger bandsaws of the horizontal type are kind of expensive.
There are also diamond edged strips that will work very well for
this work.
