I work extensively with filter slides and wheels (usually microscopes
at my work). I do not do much construction, but have done a little. I
could contribute ideas and pics of some of the slides I use. Maybe
you could offer me (and the rest of the ATM group) details, like are
you making cheap filters from scratch, or expensive commercial ones, etc?
Are they the round type that fit into a threaded hole, or maybe square
rectangular sheets, glass or some other?
One potential issue to get behind us straightaway is that ideally a
filter holder, is nicely machined so as to hold the plane of the filter
nice and flat without tilting it (unless you have a dichroic, etc).
For one example of a commercial filter holder that I like and use, have
a look at Ebay Item number 7624667126, which has some very good
pictures exemplifying several aspects of a professional design. I do
propose buying this item. I merely wish to point out that such
things with precision machining, rubber fittings, etc are readily
and cheaply available. Build only if you feel like building something.
