Kevin, I just got a pair of pieces of glass within a thousandth
of an inch of each other and within a thou of circularity by just
grinding the edge of each on a turntable.  A 1/64th is pretty
crude for doing lens diameters as you want to keep them from
bounching about in their cells better than that.
The fun part was measuring the actual diameter of the lenses as
they were 13.1225" in diameter.
