The only thing wrong with a brake rotor is that it is large compared to the
mirror unless you're doing a really large mirror.
The metal won't conform to the shape of the glass anywhere near as fast as
needed to do good grinding. A ring type tool will not have all of that
material that needs to be removed to get the curvature of the glass.
