Star tests are best used as "second opinions" to see if the tester hasn't
screwed up on a bench test - Foucault, Ronchi, etc. IMHO, they can't be
used to figure a mirror, i.e., what part of a mirror is too high or too
low. Besides, it's a major undertaking to mount the mirror, decide what's
on the mirror vs. mount-induced astig, average out what the atmosphere is
doing, and see some stars (biggest problem here in Seattle <g>).

For the best pattern interpretations, get H. R. Suiter, "Star Testing
Astronomical Telescopes".
