Smart Alec question.... Smart Alec response:

I am not that old, but mainly use a 12 year old Silicon Graphics
machine, because it was needed for my research anyway and have
never wasted time upgrading anything! My computers that I use for
amateur astonomy, to drive telescope motion control and run most
of my math simulations, etc on 486 and Pentium 66-100 Mhz computers.
I am proud to say I spend my time on astronomy and other adventures
rather than wasteful repeated cycles of hardware and software
upgrades.

Lesson: do not spend money on this hobby. Spend mental energy learning.
It is a much greater challenge, with bigger rewards.
