RE: [ATM] ATM: What do they offer:
At last night's meeting, one of the attendees mentioned that incandescent
lights have a cold starting resistance that is only 1/10 the resistance they
have at full brightness. If this is so, why is it that two identical lamps
in series glow with approximately equal brightness? Why can't we make
thermo-optical flip-flops that use this principle?

Dave,
In the particular application you mention, probably none.
However, here are a few:
1. Fun to experiment with, since they are new, different etc.
2. Ridiculously low power consumption for the amount of light given.
3. Low heat
4. Long life
5. Extremly small, light package
I think #1 is the kicker though. Playing with them a lot will enable
you to FIND the "killer advantage". If you never find it, at least
you learned a lot trying.
