Hi Richard,

I am doing almost exactly what you are doing. I made myself a reference element (zerodur) for the Ceravolo spherical interferometer and want to certify it. I first tested the reference element using a 
point light source and a beam splitter to test the small (28m) reference element. But I am worried that I might be introducing aberations testing with a beam splitter. I've read that the correct way is to build a aplanatic beam splitter. That is a beam splitter that has the faces curved as to make an aplanatic lens. I think I will try grinding/polishing the beam splitter I got into an aplanatic system.
