If you want to use polishing pads, use the ones for polishing glass rather
than the ones for polishing plastic.  There is a big difference in their
action!  The plastic pads work about as fast as a pitch lap while the glass
ones go a fair bit faster.
I've got one guy that is working on a 10" mirror that is in the process of
figuring on the pads (he got a little bit over a parabola while polishing so
he's working to get the -4 or so hyperbola back towards a parabola.
