Long time since we have heard from you. I'm glad you were finally able
to get some glass. Did you smuggle in the 8 inch from Switzerland? ;-)
I can't give you a quantitative answer, but, it should be a thin coat
that when held to the sun, will pass a little light. To thick and you
can destroy the figure with a new one from the aluminum. I hope this
makes sense. You could also try silvering your mirror. Lots of
references to that on the web, but go with the aluminum first if you
can. If the guys from the mirror lab aren't still on the list, you
could probably still contact them for info. Or maybe have the
university contact them?
