Re: [ATM] pitch lap question

The Acculap (I call it SynthPitch for fun) grades seem
harder than Gugolz to me - I tried various grades and
found the "Medium" was equivalent to Gugolz 64 which I
use for machine work. Works well, doesn't load up with
CeOx so less maintenance, very nice bright polish but
works slower than regular pitch - possibly because it
doesn't load up with CeOx. Doesn't dry out - /this/ is
valuable for consistency. Smells terrible when you
melt it, though, a chemical back-of-the-nose effect.

I've gotten some down to "Very Soft Hardness" (kind of
an amusing label) in hopes of trying it for
parabolizing but even that's harder than what I temper
Gugolz to. It can't be tempered or mixed; the
manufacturer will custom brew a grade but you have to
provide them a sizeable sample of what you want and
I've no idea on pricing.
