Re: [ATM] Fine scratches during polishing - Cures?

Why are you using turpentine on the mirror? Pitch won't attach itself to
the mirror unless you are doing something wrong and the quick way to clean
it off of a mirror is to do a good CeO/water mix on the lap and do a stroke
or two.
Turpentine dissolves the pitch which makes it nice and thin and even more of
a adhesive than it was and the "residue" is both the stuff in the turps and
the pitch that you may have dissolved in that turps.
If you are trying to make the mirror's surface perfectly clean by using the
turps then you are going backwards at a very high rate. Just clean with a
soft clean cloth or soft paper towel until the water is gone with light
wipes and you will have a clean surface. To use solvents in order to get
rid of imaginary contamination will just make things a lot more difficult.
