Hello

My 20" mirror is just about done with polishing, but the edge is still rough with about bumps and pitts of about 40 to 60 grit.  Should I remove these?  How should I romove these?  I've tried to use a belt sander and use rough sanding belt oif about 60 grit; but it didn't come off.  I've heard that even the edge of the mirror should be smooth because that it will trap grit and will be bad when aluminizing.  Is this true?
