[ATM] tooling for atm

Hi,

I'm about to go looking for a lathe and milling machine to be used primarily
for atm work, and was wondering what people here may be using or would
suggest. My budget runs to something like a mini-mill and perhaps a 9x20
lathe. I realise that the lathe I buy will always be 1" too small for what I
need :-) and that given an unlimited budget I might make different choices,
however both funds and space limit me.

 I'm looking for recommendations and experiences. Intend to make focusers, a
nice gem, cell components, gears, baffles  etc. Can't affford the size
needed to make tube rings for a largish newt though.
