Re: [ATM] lenght of trailer ramp
CLIP>>>
you could buy an electric trailer winch , here in the USA you can find
models for well under $100 new, and used for a lot less. The electric winch
works on 12VDC, and you can attach a remote cable which would allow you to
control the winch while being actually at the load not at the top of the
ramp. For maybe $50 you get a device that could lift a boat , so it doesn't
matter how strong you are.

I use exactly that -
I roll my Dob out of an enclosed trailer that is about 18" off the ground,
and use (probably excessively longish) 6 foot 2x6 x6 foot ramps. I really
like the mild ramp incline, I feel it's "insurance" to a more controlled
ascent and descent of my precious cargo... I felt more comfortable too, when
I add "lips" on the edges of the ramps by means of plastic garden edging....
and then I went and got an electric boat winch; I had a manual one, but it
proved cumbersome since my trailer is enslosed. I lurked on ebay, bought a
new one for $50..... It's pretty lazy of me but it's fun to watch the thing
winch up on its own as I merely guide it!... I have a weakness for
gadgets... LOL! (eg I just airconditioned the trailer to precool it for
nights....)
