[ATM] 8" Polishing: 6 hrs? 15 hrs?

I have completed about 7 hours of polishing (5 sessions of 1-hour each, plus 1 session of 2 hrs)
and the laser spot has nearly disappeared. (Thanks to Guy Brandenburg for the advice on my tilted
lap...)

I am ecstatic to have gotten this far, and while the laser test seems to indicate that I am either
done with polishing or only have a couple more hours, I am wondering about the disparity between
what I read in Texereau and what seems to be the general thinking among this august newsgroup.

Tex says it is "normal" to spend 15 hours polishing an 8" mirror, while on this ATMlist it seems
like 6-8 hours is frequently suggested. Maybe I am misreading the list, thinking 8 inch when
folks here are talking about 5 or 6 inch mirrors. I suppose that I ultimately will let the laser
test be my guide, but it's hard to imagine that the primary reflection will ever completely
disappear.

I've been really good about not using the Foucault tester yet, but I'm gettin' itchy!!

Thanks for your thoughts,
Jay
