Scott:
Are you talking about the "Zernike fit error" (I think that's what Dave
calls it)? For a single pass test on a moderately aspheric mirror I'd say
an RMS fit error of 0.04-0.06 waves is typical. Divide that by two or a
little more for a double pass null test.
The best way to decide how seriously to take your analysis is to analyze
multiple interferograms, preferably with the mirror rotated to two or more
distinct orientations.
