I've used both Wilsonart water-based laminate contact cement, and gorilla glue 
to bond ebony star to plywood edges - haven't had a problem yet. Make sure 
surfaces are clean and that you get lots of pressure for the contact cement. 
I wet the back of the laminate with a damp cloth for the gorilla glue.
