Going to TOT is the right thing but you do need to do the long wide W
strokes that you were doing when making that hole.
With a 6" difference, it may be worth your while to start doing the next
grit with the wide strokes so that you don't have that much more grinding to
do.
I'll also note that a good amount of pressure on the tool will help get that
edge down quickly.
You want to do the wide, long strokes or even just a bit of chordal strokes
(just staying to one side, usually near 1/2 of the dia. over the edge) to
get things really moving. You also need to do some 1/3 W strokes to smooth
up the difference between the center curvature and the edge curvature -
there will become a major difference with the outer part being a much longer
ROC than the center part doing this.
