Re: [ATM] First Pitch Lap - any tips?

May as well add my 2 cents.

I make the dam out of masking tape. I let the pitch cool until it will
depress under my fingers, but not ooze and stick. Pull the tape off in
short jerks. I facet the lap with a square stick that has been soaped and
then press a well CEOed mirror onto the lap and shape the facets. If it
gets a bit too hard, warm it up a bit in water and then facet and press.

I have also warm pressed an odd lap to use it. Soap and CEO on the mirror.
Soap the lap. Put the mirror on top and weight with a big pan of hot tap
water. That is also a good way to microfacet the lap using that plastic
netting you get on frozen turkeys. Peel the net off outside, away from
everything as it will throw tiny little pitch chunks everywhere as it
peals off.

I always let my laps cool for an hour or so before I use them.

BTB: The parchment paper sounds like a great material to put between lap
and mirror while storing them.
